Glitchy Business in Camazotz

Business in Camazotz today has been...interesting, to say the least. Today's update is split up into two parts; one part was done in the morning just to get the daily routine out of the way, while the later parts were made at my usual ~5 PM.

Danielle had barely stepped out of her house when she noticed the new reserved plot. As it turned out, today's newcomer had decided to move in right next to her. It's actually a pretty convenient spot for me, even though Keaton did bowl over one of the apple trees in the process.

I did accidentally spoil myself as to who Keaton is, but I'm not going to say it here anyway. I will say that Camazotz's streak of having weird looking villagers is sadly going to continue.

In other news, the second special visitor to Camazotz showed up today, and it was none other than Crazy Redd. This is the first time Danielle will get to see his usual shtick considering her only experience with him was when he showed up at the fireworks show (although that wasn't a pleasant experience for neither me or her).

While doing the shopping routine, it looked like someone thought Camazotz was a good place to set up a new shop. We'll get to see what this place is in due time....

Now onto other business. Katie sent Danielle a letter with a gift thanking her for taking her to Mabure yesterday. This world map was the gift in question. While I think Katie can be a little annoying if she shows up when you can't take her anywhere, I do think the rewards are pretty good.

I was going to put off talking to villagers until later in the day, but Danielle wound up speaking to Goose while attempting to water some flowers. He expressed a desire to see some of her out-of-town friends come to Camazotz someday (mostly so he could show off). Maybe he will, maybe he won't. We'll see, won't we?

Shortly afterwards Merengue pinged Danielle and asked her to grab some fruit. So far no one but Merengue and Freckles have asked for fruit. Ah well, it's an easy enough task to accomplish as long as the villager asks for a fruit that's readily available.

Today Danielle felt nice and gave her one of the non-native apples. Her reward was a one-ball tee; not something I'm overly fond of, but a present's a present. Seeing villagers happy is a reward in and of itself as far as I'm concerned, though.

None of the shops had anything Danielle absolutely had to have, but Sable continued to warm up to Danielle. Hopefully soon they'll be good friends.

This was something of interest in Labelle's part of the shop, if only because of how much bells it cost. Danielle didn't buy it because all those bells are the sole reason to buy it. Besides the fact it wouldn't look good on her, this mask also induces bad luck.

After the daily routine I shut the game off. The rest of this update occurs in the evening at my usual time.

The first villager she talked to was Merengue, who just spoke about one of her favorite books. Guess Merengue's something of a homebody.

Shari happened to be home and so Danielle stopped by. She still looked snazzy in that new jacket T-Bone gave her.

As it turned out, Shari wanted Danielle to go fetch Tiffany and bring her back to her house. These are probably my favorite favors to do, and so Danielle agreed to the task.

Tiffany wondered why Shari was feeling lazy, but agreed to come along anyway.

Danielle brought her to Shari, who was happy to see that Danielle accomplished what was asked of her.

The exchange started out ordinarily enough for these sorts of tasks, with Tiffany wondering what Shari wanted to see her for.

Then things started getting weird.
Sure, this looks normal enough. But look closely...for some reason, the game thought Shari was Tiffany and vice versa. Looking at it now, I think it's just the nametags that got screwed up, but it was still weird. I've never seen this happen before.

Maybe Camazotz is starting to bear more resemblance to its namesake than I would've liked?

Oddness aside, Shari thanked Danielle for playing her part by giving her a billiard table. Danielle isn't the sort of person who strikes me as a pool player, but maybe I'll have a use for it later on down the line.

After that it was business as usual. Clay commented on the fact that Redd was in town, and appeared to be perfectly fine with him despite the moniker of "Crazy." I don't know, Clay....

The second conversation with Goose consisted of just this line. Well, it's nice to see he's prepared for almost anything, anyway.

T-Bone happened to be home before Danielle went to fetch Tiffany for Shari, but after she got done talking to everyone else he left. So she didn't bother looking for him at all, for like I said I don't like T-Bone. In writing this I realize I completely forgot about Freckles during this update. So sorry, Freckles! I'll get to you next update.

Anyway, with all that out of the way, and after getting myself armed with a guide extensive knowledge of the fine arts, it was time for Danielle to inspect Crazy Redd's tent.

Redd was happy enough to have a visitor.

Although he didn't seem to remember seeing Danielle at the fireworks show. Maybe he intentionally forgot so he could claim to have wax in his ears or something so Danielle wouldn't chew him out over those dud prizes. It does seem like something he'd do. Or maybe he's just referring to the fact that this is the first time she's seen his usual shtick?

He explained what he normally did, which was offer rare pieces of artwork at excellent prices. Only one artwork could be sold per visitor, sadly. After all, he'd need some to scam show to other visitors, wouldn't he? That giggle at the end didn't help his image any, but somehow I doubt he cares. It wouldn't be Redd if he wasn't suspicious.

He actually had two real painting today - the fine painting, which can't be fake, and the graceful painting. I had something like this happen in Mabure when Redd stopped by for the first time, but with statues. Since Danielle could only buy one painting, I decided to go for the one that was guaranteed real just to be on the safe side.

As it turned out Redd would mail her the painting instead of giving it to her directly. Something's off here....

Since Danielle couldn't grab anything else there wasn't any point to staying longer after purchasing the fine painting. So she left, with Redd assuring her that she would receive the painting in the mail as soon as he was done with the exhibition today. It is a bit odd that he chose to handle it in this way, but he is a fairly suspicious character anyway. It's not surprising.

Danielle took a look at the gift she got from Shari when she returned home to drop it off. She placed it in her locker afterwards; it doesn't fit with her current aesthetic, and it wasn't even useful as a table.

Like she had ended the past two days off, she went to the town hall to perform her mayoral duties as the last thing she did that day. Like Isabelle had informed her earlier, her permit had been approved and she could now work on turning Camazotz into something better.

Of course, she couldn't do anything until Isabelle was done explaining, which required sitting back down in the chair after she was done. Oy, Isabelle....

Anyway, while I had an idea of where to place Camazotz's campsite, I decided to hold off on it until after I got all nine of my initial villagers. Instead, I decided to enact an ordinance. Which one, you ask?
I believe I already stated that Mabure has the Beautiful Town ordinance enacted, and that I didn't want the same for Camazotz. Given what my sleep cycle has been like lately, I decided to go with the Night Owl ordinance for the town for the time being.

It cost most of the money Danielle had made over the past few days, but she signed the ordinance and Camazotz is now a late-night town effective tomorrow. Weeds, wilted flowers, and trash in the rivers will still be something of a problem, but oh well.

That's all for Camazotz today. However, before ending things off I will say a few things about Mabure. It's not long enough to warrant giving it its own post today, though.

The most notable thing that happened? For giving him a merry-go-round for his house, Graham rewarded Avril with his picture. Considering Graham is one of my favorite villagers, I'm happy I've gotten this far with the guy.

Then while I was playing with Rosaline after this, he wanted her to give him something to replace said merry-go-round. Now I'm wondering how sincere he was about the gesture. It could just be he wanted to give her his picture for a while and just accepted the merry-go-round so he had a good reason for it, but you never know with some people.

Rocco came up to Avril with the idea of building a drilling rig in Mabure. Somehow I get the impression that would be something better suited for Camazotz; Mabure's theme is nature and zen, so it wouldn't look good here at all. And that's not getting into that it's one of the public works projects that will actually decrease your town's status as opposed to increasing it like most PWPs do.

Also relating to Graham, when Nagako visited him today Bob happened to be visiting as well. The more people the better, I feel.

Everybody dance now! Why is it that I'm always playing as Nagako when the best opportunities to use the Shrunk Funk Shuffle pop up?

Until the next one, folks.
