Farewell to a Comedian and a Lost Item

Say something for Camazotz and I usually have to say something for Mabure.

I had planned to make this a Rosaline update since I haven't done one of those yet. So naturally, that meant the most notable things had to happen to Avril. First off, Rocco gave her his picture in return for giving him a good gift yesterday. Secondly, and more importantly, Wendy wanted to leave Mabure. She wanted to go out and spread the town's good name elsewhere. I did consider letting her leave but told her to stay. Avril can do that just fine on her own, and doesn't need to sack a villager to do it.

Rosaline's day was actually not all that exciting.
Before getting into that, a few tidbits about her as a character. Like Nagako she's named after a character from a story of mine (although not the same one as Nagako's). I was aiming for the "peppy goth" feel with her, what with the dark clothing combined with the bright pink hair and halo.

I'll get to why that peach was sitting there in a moment.

The theme of her house was simply the Classic series combined with the mosaic floor and wallpaper, along with some other things that went well with them. Outside of the out-of-place balloon table (which I'm planning on replacing as soon as something more fitting comes along), I'm happiest with Rosaline's house out of all three of my characters.

The decor also helped cement Rosaline's character as a musician and writer with a particular fondness for classical music, which might carry over to her non-AC self. This game is really good for helping develop characters, I've found.

Enough of rambling about that, back to the update at hand. As it turns out, coincidence intervened to make this update a little more interesting as someone dropped something just outside her house. Rosaline had other things to do at this time so she didn't get to it right away.

Now, the main thing I had planned for her was that it was the last time she needed to visit Shrunk at Club LOL. Shrunk's probably my favorite of the special animals, and I feel he's pretty underappreciated in general. Guy's so unfunny he's funny, or maybe it's just that my standards are considerably lower than most's.

Shrunk only had one more thing to teach her, which he called his "special joke."

He commented on the fact she had seen all of his jokes and lauded her as his potential successor. To celebrate, he decided to teach her his little dance, called the Shrunk Funk Shuffle.

It wore him out in the process, but he pulled it off all the same. He even managed to get one more in after he was done.

And that was the end of that. He had nothing more to show her, or anyone else in Mabure for that matter.

He gave her one of his old suits, which is probably something Rosaline will never wear as her current outfit is set and unchanging (unless there's something I need to do with her on a day where she's tripping all over the place).

And that was the end of that. After this, none of Avril, Nagako, or Rosaline had any reason to see Shrunk. I might drop by again once in a while to see some of the older jokes again (despite it being Shrunk, some of them are pretty good).

Of course I had her try it out on her way out; like I mentioned in the last Mabure update, I really love the Shrunk Funk Shuffle. Especially when you get your villagers in on the grooving.

Which left the lost item. Rosaline then went around and talked to everyone, trying to see who dropped it. It wasn't Savannah sadly, because Savannah was the first person she asked and that would be too convenient.

It wasn't Bluebear's either. This was going to be one of those searches, wasn't it?

It wasn't Flo's or Coach's, either. It was looking very much like one of those searches.

But in the end it wasn't. It didn't take her long at all to find that it belonged to Graham.

Graham used this paper bag for...storing more paper bags. Insert "yo dawg" or "bagception" joke here.

The reward for returning it was a rugby tee. Again it'd be something Rosaline wouldn't wear unless her luck that day demanded it, but it's the thought that counts.

There was one animal that Rosaline hadn't met yet, and that was the former birthday boy Rocco. He had a favor to ask of her; return an item back to Bluebear.

...Who happened to be standing right there when the request was uttered. These animals are really lazy sometimes.

The lost item was a lost clock...that Bluebear had already ordered a second of. She then tried to sell it to Rosaline, who turned it down as she felt a little gypped. I think I already mentioned that when your animals pull this stunt off it's really, really annoying.

Besides the above, Savannah had a load of excess corseted shirts after Avril sent her a ton during the first Mabure update and tried to sell Rosaline one...completely failing to notice that Rosaline was already wearing one. After Rosaline turned her down, she then tried to give it to Rosaline for free. Rosaline still didn't need a second shirt. Sadly I didn't take a picture of this affair, but I probably should have. It was amusing.

And that's all for Mabure today. Tomorrow's update would be an Avril one...if it wasn't Nagako's birthday tomorrow. Considering I have no idea who she's closest to in Mabure, it's going to be something of a surprise. I guess we'll see, won't we?

Until the next one, folks.

Path to the Development Permit

Not a whole lot happened in Camazotz today, but I might as well say something about it.

Before I started snapping pictures Danielle received two letters; one was from Clay thanking her for visiting him yesterday and one was from her mother. Both had gifts, although I don't remember what they were off the top of my head.

Now that Shari's properly settled it's time for a newcomer, and this time it's someone called Tiffany. I don't know who that is, though the name does sound somewhat familiar. I'm at least guessing she's a snooty villager as Camazotz doesn't have one of those yet. I'd prefer to remain unspoiled about it; I'll see for myself tomorrow.

Now onto the daily routine of watering flowers, digging up fossils and pitfalls, and talking to other villagers. Goose today felt the need to give Danielle a paw tee. Given that almost everyone else is currently thinking of her as some kind of errand girl, it's a nice change of pace (although Danielle doesn't look so amused in the picture).

And as it turned out I completely failed to notice her house's new exterior until I walked past it a second time. I have to admit I completely forgot about that.

Speaking of renovations, Nook's had a fancy fence on display and Danielle decided to go for it. It'd fit well with her home's exterior walls. Guess her theme's going to be "fancy."

Nookling's items today included this game shelf, complete with Nintendo Gamecube. Danielle didn't actually buy this; I just thought it was interesting.

She did buy this gray tartan skirt as I thought it was pretty. The Able Sisters also had T-Bone's default shirt on display, although since I don't like T-Bone I didn't bother with it.

After the daily shopping was done, Danielle went around and talked to the animals. Goose forgot something over at Merengue's house and Merengue asked her to return it.

It didn't take long to find Goose again and give him the item. As it turned out, he didn't even remember losing something. I didn't take a picture of what it was, and I forget what it was. I think it was furniture of some kind.

Goose gave her one weird item in return. Is there something you're not telling me, Goose?

Merengue reacted to Goose's forgetfulness with Animal Crossing's equivalent to a facepalm. An appropriate reaction, I think (it's even more appropriate when the receiver winds up ordering another of the same item and tries to sell it to you. I hate it when that happens).

Freckles was the one craving fruit today. This is what I mean by Danielle becoming the local errand girl. One would think your animals would be a little more respectful towards the mayor. Danielle's a nice girl though and agreed to it.

She went back home to fetch a pear, and while she was it took a look at the skeleton Goose gave her. Not certain if Danielle will ever use this thing, but there you go.

Freckles enjoyed the pear quite a bit and happily chomped it down.

In return, she gave Danielle a table lamp.

With no other obligations to fulfill, Danielle went and visited Shari's house after the monkey had returned home. While K.K. Oasis is playing in the background, the dominant theme here simply appears to be the Cabana series. Not a huge fan of that series, but I'm not one to pick on other people's fashion sense.

Amazingly, Shari didn't have something for Danielle to do (although she did just move here). Instead she commented on the reserved plot. Either way, I can agree with that sentiment as I have no idea who Tiffany is.

Finally, after putting it off for a while, Danielle went and talked to T-Bone. He invited her to his house. As much as I don't like T-Bone, I was going to accept just to get Danielle's approval rating up...but I accidentally hit the B button and turned him down.

Speaking of the approval rating, I ended off this update by going to the town hall and seeing how far along Danielle was for getting her town development permit.

She had a house already, so that's over and done with. At the time of this update, she had a 50% approval rating. Well, it's better than Avril's when she first checked, but she still had a way to go before getting the needed 100% approval rating (despite that such a thing would be very unfeasible in reality).

As it turned out, Tortimer kept his word about the boat to the island, and Danielle is free to visit any time she likes. I'll save this for a future update, however. I didn't feel like doing it today.

And that's all for this update. Next time in Camazotz we'll see just who the heck Tiffany is, and maybe get that 100% approval rating. Also talk to Clay, as it appears I completely forgot about him today. Until the next one, folks.
