Happy Hippo Birthday

And now onto the Mabure update.

As I said in the first Mabure update, I plan on rotating between my three Mabure characters for updates about the town. Today is Nagako's turn. She's named after a character of mine, and as such she's mostly themed around said character (although her AC self really helped develop the version of her that actually appears in a story).

As the character's Japanese I tried my best to make sure she looked the part. Same goes for her house (although right now I'd say it's probably more generally Asian themed). She's also quite the bug lover, so she also has quite a bit of the insect series.

Now for the main event: Today is Rocco's birthday. Avril already paid him a visit and gave him a gift, although that happened off camera. The reason I'm recording Nagako's visit is not just because it's her turn for the update; Rocco's a strong contender for the title of Nagako's best friend, and since her own birthday is coming up this Wednesday I figured it'd be best for her to return the favor to Rocco.

After buying some wrapping paper for her gift Nagako made her way to Rocco's place. He greeted her as soon as she entered, expressing his happiness that she chose to come. Now that there's a party going on, there's only one thing to do....

Everybody dance now! I love the Shrunk Funk Shuffle.

Nagako didn't dance for too awful long; she had a gift to give, after all. I didn't manage to take a picture of the gift in question, but she gave Rocco a sword. As you can see, he really liked it. Here's hoping he'll be trustworthy with that thing.

Also present was Eloise. Interestingly enough, when Avril dropped by Rocco's other guest was Wendy. I'm guessing this means Rocco has two best friends, which means he's doing pretty well for himself. Although Eloise was also here when Rosaline visited, so maybe that means Eloise is closer to him than Wendy. Who knows?

Either way, Nagako stayed around for a little while, getting down with her bad self and occasionally chatting with Rocco and Eloise. Sadly, she couldn't stay for the whole time (if nothing else, this was played out before I had the chance to get some shut-eye).

Rocco thanked her for the gift, and that was that. No more villagers have a birthday this month, so it'll probably be a while before I get to cover another one.

The next update is for Rosaline, and incidentally I have just the thing for then. That'll be tomorrow, however. Also, Camazotz is likely going to get another newcomer tomorrow (I forgot to mention that no one else decided to move in during the update today), so there's that.

Until the next one, folks.

Get Down, Get Funky....

Meet the monkey! This'll be relevant later on.

I decided to start off with the Camazotz update as there are a few new things I'd like to show and there's more happening there than there is in Mabure (though Mabure did have a notable event today; I'll get to that shortly).

There were a few things that happened before I started updating. First off, Camazotz's original mayor Tortimer decided to drop by and give Danielle a formal invitation to the island. Secondly, Danielle got a few letters - one was her HHA acceptance letter, and the other was a reply from Merengue.

Afterwards, the first thing Danielle did was go to the town hall and change a few things about the town. Most importantly, the town tune was changed to this (Dearly Beloved from Kingdom Hearts) since I was getting a little annoyed by the default tune, and the flag was changed to the default rose pattern as a placeholder until Danielle finally got access to Sable's new sewing machine.

The next thing she did was go say "hi!" to the newcomer, but not before taking a look at her home's exterior. A few moments later, she went in.

There's not much to comment on about the internal decor; since Shari just moved in everything was in boxes. The wallpaper and carpet looked nice, though.

She didn't gawk at it too long though before she finally spoke to Shari, who decided to come to Camazotz due to the new mayor hopefully making it a good place to live. Their first meeting went more or less amiably.

The uchi villagers are a bit underappreciated, in my opinion. Sure they aren't as "cute" as, say, the normal or peppy villagers, but they tend to be fun characters to talk to. Shari in particular I've come to like for reasons mentioned in my previous Camazotz post.

After greeting Shari, Danielle went around and spoke with the five other villagers. Most of them asked favors of her, starting with Freckles looking for a new piece of furniture to replace a potted plant.

In the process of looking for everyone else, Danielle stumbled across the money rock, earning herself a little over two thousand bells. I used to have major trouble getting this to work right (kept missing and digging a hole next to the rock). Even nowdays I rarely mess with the rock in Mabure, although that's mostly because a lot of the rocks are surrounded by paths that would block some goods from appearing.

Merengue happened to be home, which was enough for Danielle to get a better look at the place. As it turns out the rhino decided she wanted to live in a candy shop (fitting for her appearance). She used to have a phonograph in here, but she donated that to Re-tail where it was bought by Danielle.

As for the rhino herself, she wanted Danielle to go fetch her a piece of fruit. Danielle agreed and went off to take care of that.

In the process she ran into Clay, who instead of a favor asked if Danielle wanted to come visit his house. She'd already seen it yesterday, but accepted out of politeness.

The visit was scheduled for noon, which at the time was less than an hour away. I considered scheduling it for later, but considering I'd stayed up all night and was feeling very drowsy as a result I decided against it. I had no idea when I'd be up again once I fell asleep.

Danielle had harvested most of the pears searching for a perfect one during her first night in Camazotz, which might explain the current lack of fruit. Thankfully, she had a bunch of pears in storage, and got one out for Merengue. She also decided to give Freckles one of her extra boxed figurines from the night before.

In the meantime, here's what her house looks like now that it's bigger. The phonograph currently plays "Forest Life," one of the two songs she got from Avril yesterday. The rococo lamp is still there, just covered up by the time and date. Finally, I've added the lovely phone, although Danielle hasn't really needed it yet and also doesn't have a lot of clothing on her at the moment.

On her way back to Freckles and Merengue, Danielle found she had an extra sparkler from all those dud prizes. For the heck of it, she set it off.

Merengue was happy enough with the pear she was given.

In thanks, she gave Danielle a toad shirt. Presumably, "toad" was in the sense of the character from Mario rather than in the sense of a warty, land-living amphibian.

Freckles also found the boxed figurine suitable for her purposes.

The reward here was a cowhide rug. Here's hoping T-Bone won't take too much offense to that....

Speaking of T-Bone, he came up with yet another nickname for Danielle. "Bucko" is a step up from "Youngin," but Danielle still found being called by her real name to be preferable.

After returning home, Danielle checked out her rewards. As expected "toad" did in fact refer to the Mario character (or at least a toadstool). She didn't keep either in place for long.

Goose did not appear to be walking around Camazotz but also wasn't home, so Danielle didn't try to look for him. Or at least, not immediately.

She then went and did the daily shopping. This was the most interesting item Nookling Junction had on display. Although it wouldn't be something she'd display in her house, she went and bought it anyway just to give the Junction some money.

Meanwhile, the Able Sisters had this on display. Once again Danielle preferred her current outfit, but went and bought this dress anyway for the sake of giving the Able Sisters money. Interestingly enough they also had something resembling her initial shirt, although this she mostly ignored.

Sable appeared to be entirely focused on her work and said absolutely nothing to Danielle. With nothing more to see here, she went and moved on to the accessories shop, which turned out to have nothing of interest that day.

She then stopped by Nook's Homes to get the business numbers for upgrading her house. Upon arriving Nook took the time to introduce her to Lyle, the HHA's local manager. As she had no decorating concerns at the moment she didn't say anything to him after this.

More importantly to her there was an exterior she happened to like. She decided to go for it as she wasn't planning on expanding her house again immediately as it was (and she still had to pay off that loan first).

With nothing better to do afterwards, she went around and watered the flowers, pulling up whatever weeds she could find, which was a grand total of one (though that might have been me not noticing them).

She also grabbed a bunch of new fish and bugs for the museum. Out of curiosity she went and took a look around the exhibits, and found Goose in the fossils.

The premium item at Re-Tail today was the centipede, which didn't feel like spawning that day. Those rock bugs are a pain in the rear to find; while I've managed to find a pill bug with Danielle I've had absolutely no luck with them otherwise. In fact, I haven't found any of them in Mabure no matter how hard I try.

Shortly before her scheduled appointment with Clay, she headed down to the docks to meet with former mayor Tortimer, who informed her that the boat to the island would start making regular visits in Camazotz the following day (though he needed to remember that detail first).

Afterwards, it was time for the visit, and Danielle arrived practically on the dot. Clay was happy enough to see her.

The visit went swimmingly, although Danielle felt the need to use Clay's hammock for a bit.
She did question the decision of making this ptero torso face the wall instead of the door when the latter would look nicer and probably give Clay a better HHA score. Well, whatever works for him.

She told Clay that she found his house to be great (which it is) before departing. Afterwards, she headed straight home.

And that's all for Camazotz today. Considering again that I needed to sleep I considered just skipping a Mabure update, but just like I said at the beginning of this post there's something to see there. That update will be out shortly.

Until the next one, folks.
