The Penthouse Bunny and the Wandering Kitty

While Nagako was having the time of her life (or at least her day) in Mabure, it was business as usual for Mayor Danielle of Camazotz.

The villager whose plot was placed yesterday finally moved in properly today, and with no letters or other immediate business to tend to Danielle went and visited Tiffany posthaste.

I...uhhhhhh....

I fully admit to not liking rabbit villagers in general as I think most of them look odd. But Tiffany's freaky looking by their standards. Maybe I'll warm up to her as time goes on, but otherwise she's joining T-Bone in the "I hope you move out" group. Her wallpaper and floor go well together though, so there's that. I didn't manage to take a picture of their first conversation as I couldn't get a good shot, but hopefully I'll get a better picture of her tomorrow.

What is with this town and weird-looking animals? First T-Bone, then Shari (although Shari at least is cute by my standards), and now this. Then again, I probably shouldn't expect anything different when I decided to name the place "Camazotz."

With that out of the way, it was on to the daily routine. The Nooklings didn't have anything interesting, and neither did the Able Sisters. However, it appears Danielle's efforts to connect with Sable appear to be working.

Nook's Homes did have this pink pavement sample on display. Since it'd fit well with the theme her house currently has Danielle went and bought it.

When everything else was done, it was time to talk to the resident animals, starting with a certain dogu hamster that got left out of the update yesterday. He commented on the fact that everyone's thinking of Danielle as a freshman mayor (which is true; at this point Danielle wasn't even sure she had 100% approval just yet).

Goose was home when Danielle first talked to him, but here's a better shot of his house. A bit country-themed, as one would expect from a rooster.

He wanted Danielle to check out his epic rooster muscles. Yeah Goose, I'd be careful about who you'd say that to. A lot of people would probably find those muscles tasty, and I don't mean in the fanservice sort of way.

Freckles, for the second day in the row, wanted Danielle to fetch her another fruit. Just for the sake of getting approval, Danielle went and got her another pair.

The reward this time was some Jomon Pottery, which Danielle might actually have a use for in the future. I'll admit to not using (if not immediately selling) most of the rewards I get from doing favors as, like I believed I've stated, I'm really picky about my taste in fashion.

Shari decided she wanted to talk to Danielle on her own accord. As it turned out, she had her eyes on Danielle's table lamp (which she got yesterday and didn't even look at it). She wanted to buy it, only for Danielle to shrug and give it to her for free.

That made her plenty happy, as you can see here. Hearing her whistle the first few notes of "Dearly Beloved" was enough to make me happy I went with that for the town theme.

Congratulations T-Bone, you are no longer the only villager in town that Danielle actively puts off talking to (not that she'd actually tell him that, if for no other reason than the game won't let her do it in person). T-Bone wanted Danielle to give something to Shari. A favor's a favor, and since Danielle needs approval she accepted the task (properly, there were no B-button mishaps this time around).

The item in question turned out to be a black-denim jacket...which Shari put on right away.

It actually looks pretty good on her. She gave Danielle a night-sky tee as a reward.

T-Bone seemed a little embarrassed to hear that Shari didn't wait to start wearing it. I do wonder....

But never mind that. Afterwards, Danielle went around town and caught some new fish for the museum. In the process of doing that, Clay's eyes fell upon her iguanodon tail and decided he wanted it. He got his wish for 3,000 bells (I'm not certain how much it's really worth, but this is better than having it take up inventory space).

In addition, Freckles became the first villager to ask for a catchphrase change. Once again I couldn't think of anything and so went with the first thing that popped into my head, with the result that Freckles is going to sound a bit like Pac-Man for a while. Probably spelled "waka" wrong, but whatever.

Once it felt like she had done enough for the museum, Danielle finally turned her attention to a certain animal she had seen wandering around earlier. As it turned out, Camazotz had its first special visitor today (not counting Redd's appearance at the fireworks show).

And considering she'd visited Mabure twice over the past couple days, it wasn't surprising that said special visitor turned out to be Katie. This is actually the first time I've seen her in either of my towns; my Mabure characters have yet to actually leave their town outside of using the Dream Suite, and I don't get the chance to do so often because I usually don't have WiFi access (or at least WiFi I can use with my 3DSes).

Since she didn't have any other options, it was time to head over to Mabure for a third time. She and Katie headed to the train station and waited for Avril to open up Mabure's gates.

It all went swimmingly, and Katie was off to see the sights of Mabure.

Danielle stuck around for a little while as well to grab some things in Mabure's shops that weren't available in Camazotz's. No hair styling occurred this time as I'm happy with the way it looks now. She returned to Camazotz shortly afterwards.

Danielle ended her day off with checking on the status of her permit. To her (and my) surprise, she had managed to accomplish the needed 100% percent approval a mere day after checking for the first time (though to be fair she had been here for almost five days, so she had plenty of time).

Isabelle congratulated her and told her she would submit the application as soon as she could, although it would likely be day or so until the application was processed and accepted.

To end today's Camazotz update, here's a look at how Danielle's house is looking. The exterior will look even more different tomorrow once the new pavement is added. The interior admittedly isn't looking all that different; the only thing that's changed is that she's replaced her trash can with the more aesthetically appealing trash bin and that she's added K.K. Metal to her list of music. She could use a table or two to put her pet mosquito and that rococo lamp on, I think. But that'll be a topic for a future update.

Until the next one, folks.

A Bug Lover's Birthday

Mabure had the most notable happening of the day so I'm writing about it first today.

Before we get to that event, I had this happen while running around taking care of Avril's business for the day:

But it isn't like Avril to be a showhog, even though it would have been her turn for a Mabure update. No, today's big event was that it's Nagako's birthday. Beyond knowing that she's a teenager, I have no idea what her non-AC counterpart's age is, but it was a very enjoyable experience all the same.

She stepped out of her house today (or tonight, rather - I didn't get around to it until 7 PM due to my screwed-up sleeping cycle and that I played out the Camazotz update before this one despite the order I'm posting their updates in) to find Rocco standing outside waiting for her. I wonder what he wants to do?

He lead her to his house, and what do you know:
Surprise birthday party! I find it really funny that the cranky villagers throw in a "stinkin'" when saying "happy birthday" when none of the other villager types add anything (or at least uchi and snooty villagers don't).

There was a cake ready for her, and all she needed to do was decide on a wish and blow out the candles. It took some fidgeting (one, I needed to locate the 3DS's microphone because it's next to invisible, and even when I did find it it didn't want to work right for some reason), but eventually...

Success was achieved. Now that they're a little more visible I'll now point out the other two animals who were invited; Bob and Savannah. Incidentally, these were the exact two animals who got invited to Avril's birthday party earlier in the year (July 22, to be exact, which is my real-life birthday in addition to being Avril's and Danielle's. Eloise was the one hosting the party in that case).

Rocco complimented Nagako on her candle-blowing (despite the fact that it wasn't that great) and then gave her the present he and the others picked out for her. What was the present? You'll see.

And what was Nagako's wish? Let me tell you right now:
Compared to Avril's wish to have Marina move to Mabure one day, Nagako's wish for more insect furniture was rather tame in comparison. To be fair, I do want more insect furniture for her as I think that side of her could be a bit more obvious from looking at her house.

Either way, Rocco told her he and the other animals would be cheering her on for accomplishing that wish.

It's a party, and so Nagako celebrated the one thrown in her honor in the way she did for the one thrown for Rocco: with the Shrunk Funk Shuffle. Everybody dance now.

I don't have much to say about the rest of the party, and so I'll just dump the other pictures I took below:
The reason he provided for not getting her this was that it'd go bad before she'd get to finish it all. I see Nagako as being more a carnivore anyway, so I'm not certain she'd like veggie stew anyway.

Even though I knew this would happen on Nagako's birthday from both watching Chugga's birthday on his channel and from celebrating Avril's earlier this year, and even though it's not my actual birthday, I still really enjoyed it. It's little touches like these that make this game as enjoyable as it is.

Nagako would have loved to party all night long, but sadly she had other things she needed to get to that night. So after staying around for a while, she bid farewell to the party and headed on out.

Rocco had one more thing to say before she left. He seemed a little upset that she was leaving, but thanked her for going along with it all the same.

And that was that. Nagako's one year older, and now I know that out of all the animals in Mabure she's closest to Rocco. Honestly I can't think of a better best friend for her.

Her birthday present was this set of candles. I was expecting a hat as that was what Avril and I believe Chugga got and so I assumed that would always be it. Turns out there's a whole series of this stuff, apparently.

Besides the candles, Rocco, Bob, and her mother also sent her additional gifts. From Rocco she received an incense burner which she put to use immediately; from Bob she got a marshmallow chair, and from her mother she got a hamster cage. Graham would probably have some things to say about that last one.

To end things off, here's what everyone else had to say about the occasion:

Happy birthday, Nagako! Hopefully I'll get around to writing the story you're a part of someday.
