Rebirth, Part 2

Yuyake continues to make good progress, and I have to say I have no regrets about resetting. Now, onto "Day 5."

The rain of the previous "day" triggered the first appearance of gyroids in Yuyake. This particular gyroid wound up being a fixture in Madeline's house.

Also, the orange tree Madeline planted on "Day 1" has now borne fruit.

For something a little more exciting, Shep got himself properly established.

I have no complaints here. I'm a big fan of the dogs in Animal Crossing (to the point that one of the four potential tenth villagers in Mabure is a dog), and Shep's good looking enough for my tastes. He's Yuyake's smug in case you were wondering.

As Yuyake's time-travel period started in August, the fireworks show is back. I won't be showing this off, however - I'm just completely ignoring special events for the duration of the time-travel period.

Sable finally starts to crack a little. As you saw all this in Camazotz, I won't be showing it again until I unlock the sewing machine.

Midge gets comfortable enough with Madeline to ask her for a new greeting.

With two birds around, I imagined a third one was a distinct possibility. Thoughts of three little birds lead to thoughts of Bob Marley, which lead to this.

The interior of Madeline's house at the moment. A bit eclectic and more than a little cramped, but it's serving its purpose. Not pictured: the aforementioned tall lullaboid.

Peck had decided to sell his air conditioner at Re-Tail, then asked Madeline to get him some new furniture. Since at this point I still hadn't seen the inside of his house, I decided to try an experiment. I bought the air conditioner and gave it back to him. As you can see, he accepted it.

Peck was also the first one to come up with a nickname for Madeline. Sadly, it wasn't a good one (or at least a fitting one).

Later Madeline managed to catch a conversation between Peck and Bruce, which lead to the above exchange. If I hadn't decided to keep Bruce already, this would have been where I made that decision.

Yuyake's one bridge was a bit inconveniently placed, so for the first PWP I decided to build a second one.

With help from the Bell Boom ordinance, funding was accomplished soon afterwards.

Midge became the first villager to visit Madeline's house.

It went well enough, and was a worthy conclusion to "Day 5."

Now onto "Day 6."

Since Madeline didn't get to talk to Mira the previous "day," she made a point to do so the following "day." The result was the above trade, which was accepted.

Madeline also finally got a look at Peck's house. It's...not what I expected. He would have had a hi-fi stereo, but he had replaced it with a dorado on an earlier "day."

As it was Sunday in-game Isabelle and Redd were readying themselves for the fireworks. Madeline wouldn't be attending them until next year, however.

The "day's" move-in was Purrl. Judging by the name and personalities in Yuyake at this point, I guessed she was a snooty cat.

Also, the gardening shop is getting built after spending at least some money at Nookling Junction each "day."

And here's the interior of Shep's house. Guess he likes boating. Also, his music choice didn't do much to dispel the thoughts of Bob Marley from earlier.

The announcement that the cobblestone bridge had been completed. I meant to take a picture of the bridge itself but my atrocious memory said otherwise.

Mira came up with a much more fitting name for Madeline, which she accepted.

Yuyake's first perfect apple finally reveals itself. Madeline shook it down and stored it away for safekeeping. Also shows the second bridge I built. That's everything notable about "Day 6," so time to move on to "Day 7."

Here's what Purrl looks like. The eyes kind of bug me, but I'm otherwise fond of the cats in Animal Crossing and Purrl doesn't bother me otherwise. Her wallpaper and flooring look nice and her house is in a good place, if nothing else.

Plus by being a cat she offers some nice contrast to Penelope, Peck, and Midge. With Shep being a contrast to Filbert (and Purrl a bit more logically), Yuyake seemed to be picking up an unintentional "predators and prey" theme.

Yuyake's completed gardening shop. Not much else to say about it otherwise.

As her last act that "day" Madeline visited Bruce, and it turned out Midge was also visiting him. And here I was thinking she was off with Peck. On a somewhat related note, Bruce added a flea to his decor, which I believe was pulled off Filbert.

With the end of "Day 7" came the start of "Day 8."
"Day 8," in turn, marked the second appearance of Crazy Redd in Yuyake (technically third if you count the fireworks show).

Also that day was the first Nookling sale. Madeline didn't take advantage of it since I set the time to somewhere around 3 PM to start each day and (spoiler warning) there wasn't anything happening that made it worth sticking around until then.

Bruce became the second visitor to Madeline's house. Nothing much to say about the visit, but now is a good time to note Madeline's new eye patch. Don't know how long I'll have her keep it on.

After tending to her other business "Day 8" ended with the visit to Crazy Redd, during which Madeline bought the one real artwork he had on display: the beautiful statue.

The ninth villager of Yuyake took his sweet time in arriving, but finally plotted down on "Day 9." With Purrl contrasting Penelope, Midge, and Peck and Shep contrasting Filbert and Purrl, I figured what Yuyake needed was a wolf to contrast Bruce and Mira.
The game didn't agree with me on that one, but I was more than happy as to who I got instead. Prior to this my ninth villagers have tended to be ones I've disliked or at least didn't care for. Mabure's original ninth was Sheldon, who remains Mabure's only move out to this day, and I believe I've stated what the problem was with Becky in Camazotz. I was fully prepared for the trend to carry over to Yuyake.

Yuyake didn't follow suit. As you can see, the next move-in was to be Benedict, the villager from the failed first attempt and one I expressed sorrow about not being able to keep. As it turned out he made it to the real Yuyake, and with his house being in a good position he's set to be a permanent resident.

The other notable happening of the day was Peck challenging Madeline to a game of hide-and-seek. I've played this quite a few times in Mabure, but never got the chance to in Camazotz.

Madeline found Bruce and Mira almost right off the bat, not that she needed to as Peck gave her a generous fifteen minutes to find everyone.

Finding Peck himself actually took quite a bit longer than expected, but Madeline found him soon enough.

Peck seemed to be bit of a sore loser, but enjoyed himself enough to give Madeline a reward for her performance.

Nook's homes had a white mailbox and rope fence on display that day, which Madeline got for her house.

The "day" ended with the ceremony for the second bridge, which I couldn't do on the day of completion due to the fireworks show and then forgot about. It didn't get much attendance, as you can see here.

The final "day" of the update is "Day 10."
The white mailbox and rope fence are now in place. Another thing worth pointing out: Madeline also seems to be developing a tan. I've been actively trying to avoid getting any of my characters tanned as I don't feel it fits them, and Madeline's no exception. So after noticing it I made it a point to have her keep her umbrella out at all times (unless she needed to use a different tool).

Benedict himself has been shown on the blog before, but here's his wallpaper and carpet.

With Benedict here Yuyake now has the foreshadowed three birds, although only Peck and Midge really count as little and I don't think roosters can sing all that well.

While we're looking at interior design here's what Mira's house looks like. She appears to have a spaceship theme going on.

After Madeline visited Filbert's house twice (didn't bother taking pictures of the second visit; you've seen his house already) during the previous days it was unsurprising the two of them became friendly enough for Filbert to request a special greeting. I was going to say "Spacenuts" but decided it sounded dirty even before the game told me I couldn't go with it, and so I went with the next random thing I could think of.

A little while passed (mostly in the form of trying and failing to find a stag beetle for Filbert) before I decided to finish off the "day."
To end it I decided to show off Saharah, who happened to be the special visitor of the "day." I don't think I've shown what she does on this blog before.

For those of you who don't know, Saharah's thing is wallpaper and carpet. Pay her 3000 bells and she'll give your main room a random wallpaper and carpet. Sometimes it looks good, but sometimes it doesn't.

This time I don't know what to think. At least Madeline now has a choice of wallpaper after being restricted to that paw-print wall for quite a while.

The final act of the "day" (and the real day for that matter) was to pay off the second loan and immediately expand again. Madeline's house is a bit cramped currently.

Now that I have nine villagers, they're going to start moving out soon. I got far luckier with Yuyake's initial selection than I did with Camazotz's. The only villager who I absolutely want to leave is Mira, and that is solely due to the position of her house rather than any dislike towards the villager herself.

Otherwise, I'm happy with the animals I have (though if Peck, Purrl, or Filbert want to leave I'll probably let them; Peck's a repeat animal, Filbert's house is impeding on my plans for a third bridge and I'm still not sure what to think of Purrl's design).

Beyond that, I have a ton of empty space for PWPs and will likely start placing them in the upcoming "days" as the villager arrangement starts nearing completion.

Also, Mabure had a fairly unremarkable day today and therefore isn't going to be getting an update. I don't know when it'll be getting an update again, but hopefully it'll be tomorrow.

Until the next one, folks.
